Café Iterum is a new café and casual eatery in East Boston located in the ground floor retail space at Clippership Wharf, a mixed-use development on East Boston’s waterfront that was completed in 2019 and includes 478 residential units.
The property is less than a block away from Maverick Square and the Blue Line MBTA stop. Café Iterum’s target customers will include nearby residents and commuters. There are few other options for higher-quality coffee and café food in the immediate neighborhood. In addition to café sandwiches, salads and breakfast items, Iterum Café will serve pre-packaged “heat and serve” dinners, which management has identified a demand for among its residential neighbors.
Café Iterum is owned by Matthew McPherson, an experienced chef who will lead the cafe’s kitchen and business operations. McPherson’s previous experience includes Executive Chef and Sous Chef positions in highly acclaimed Boston restaurants, including Cragie on Main, The Frogmore, and South End Buttery. He holds a B.S. in Culinary Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University. This loan was approved before the pandemic started, and LEAF is thrilled to see that Matt and his team have opened the café.
