Growing Your Food-Based Business

The Mayor's Office of Economic Development, in partnership with the East Boston Merchant Association, will host a workshop focused on growing and resourcing food-based businesses.

Are you interested in learning about resources available to grow your food-based business? Do you need help navigating the requirements and regulations?

In this session, learn the ins and outs of the various permits and licenses you need to expand your food business. Come meet business coaches and representatives from various city departments who can answer your question about expanding/growing your current business.

New Business Model: Co-operatives

The Mayor's Office of Economic Development, in partnership with Local Enterprise Assistance Fund (LEAF) & Center for Co-operative Development and Solidarity (CCDS), will host an informative workshop regarding the "how-tos" of forming a co-op along with an outline of the benefits co-ops can provide.

As entrepreneurs, we know you are constantly looking for ways to lower your costs, get better prices for your product or service, secure investment for growth, retain great workers and encourage them to feel the sort of responsibility for your reputation that you do as a business owner. This workshop will highlight ways that entrepreneurs like you have used the cooperative model to build better businesses. You will learn from successful co-op members about the different types of cooperative businesses that exist in the US, and about the process for converting your business into a co-op.

If you are a business owner seeking to increase sales during the holiday season, have we got a workshop for you! Well in advance of “crunch time” come learn how to have a festive and successful holiday season. You will learn how to create a timeline for successful holiday marketing, how (and why) to make your store look its best with easy DIY (Do It Yourself) ideas that will attract customers, and how you can follow up with holiday shoppers to enhance sales all year long.
