Comfort Kitchen Secures Financing for New Restaurant in Dorchester (Boston, MA)

Comfort Kitchen opened its doors on January 25th, 2023 and is located in the heart of Upham’s Corner’s commercial center, just a 5-minute walk from its MBTA commuter rail station. The concept for Comfort Kitchen was formed in 2019, as Historic Boston sought a tenant for its renovation of the Upham’s Corner Comfort Station. After developing a relationship with Historic Boston, Comfort Kitchen’s founding team embarked on a 2-month community engagement process, holding workshops to research and identify local preferences and priorities, which led to their development of the Comfort Kitchen concept.

Comfort Kitchen’s opening has been delayed due to the COVID pandemic, which made 2020 a very challenging year to start a restaurant business.

The Comfort Kitchen team has been hosting temporary pop-up events at various established venues in the Boston area, including the Little Dipper bar in Jamaica Plain. These pop-ups have been popular, and have given Comfort Kitchen a venue to hone its menus while building customer recognition. Once open, Comfort Kitchen will offer a range of light café fare like sandwiches, salads, and fresh juices, for breakfast and lunch, with a full menu for seated dinner service in the evenings.
