This summer, River Valley Market Co-op, a LEAF borrower, will complete a remodel of its existing store to accommodate growing sales. Started in 2008, River Valley has seen tremendous support from the community and has over 7,000 member-owners and raised $2.4 million in member loans for their latest remodel. They are now in the research stage for a second co-op, which will allow them to work with more local farmers and serve more residents. The coop provides more than 120 good jobs in a low-income area, and is located in a previously designated food desert.
